The Big Rig HD/FD, our most stable kayak, is tricked out and ready for battle.

Rod management is key! Dual rod tubes on both sides of the kayak and oversized rod troughs work in concert with the thermoformed rod-staging risers located beside the seat to keep everything tangle-free and protected.

Large, easy-open latches allow access to the ample storage inside the hull, and we’ve updated the seal for 2021 to keep water out of the hatches. The bow features a hatch bin to keep items stowed away but prevent them from sliding out of reach.

Oversized transducer scupper accepts many modern fish finders, and an electronics pass-through on the bow beside the Flex Drive 3D unit eliminates the hardest part of running wires from inside the hull to the fish finder - drilling holes in your kayak!

Our Flex Drive E accessory allows a quick and easy transition to a motor from the Flex Drive 3D system. Simply twist off two thumb knobs, remove the Flex Drive and replace with the Flex Drive E, connect to battery and motor your way to your favorite fishing hole. Check it out here:

Most unique to the Big Rig HD/FD is the ability to convert from a pedal-driven kayak to a paddle-driven kayak. Simply remove eight bolts, drop in the alternate pod and enjoy the best of both paddling and pedaling worlds. HD configuration features foot-controlled rudder steering and an oversized central storage pod, while the FD uses handles located on both sides of the angler to control the rudder. Check out the Paddle Pod here:

The four hole bolt inserts on the stern of the kayak accepts many accessories that feature that pattern, including PowerPole and Torqeedo trolling motors.

Whether you’re fishing lakes, rivers or inshore salt, the Big Rig HD/FD is the ultimate battleship.

  • Big Rig rocks!

I love my Big Rig! Super stable, loaded with rails, and the pedal drive is smooth and fast.
This yak is good with the paddle and great with the pedals. I am a bit wiser in years and it will cover some water quickly and I'm not worn out afterwards. 4-5 mile trips are easy to fish with the comfort this yak provides.
While it is heavier, it is a pleasure to fish on.
I use mine in saltwater marshes, creeks and rivers. I love it.

I transitioned from a Pescador Pro 12 to the Big Rig in August 2020.
I was initially attracted to the rod storage system and I love it. No more pvc rocket launchers, just a clean profile.
I have had it out 3 times and it is the champ.
Stable, comfortable, and loaded with rails and storage options.
I use the forward compartment tray for my battery storage for my Striker 4. The transducer is inhull so I have no deck clutter.
Ive stood up several times to test the stability and i can throw a cast net from this battleship. It is maneuverable and fast. I can cover more territory without becoming a wimp noodle.
While it is heavy, the features and comfort more than offset.
    A great kayak and company.

  • Ultimate tournament platform

Posted by Justin Hausner on May 27th 2020

Coming up from the liska. I knew i wanted a larger platform with room to be comfortable while spending a full day on the water. The BIgRig HD/FD give me this room. This boat is so stable (even fully loaded) standing up and down is a breeze. If you are looking for a large platform ... look no further.

I'm enjoying my Big Rig FD. It is a bit to handle but that is why it is called the Big Rig. It is Big and it is Rigged. The seat is very comfortable. I really like the rod storage system where I can store two rods on the right and two on the left. The steering is great except that one of the shifters (the screw) became loose while on the water but I retightened it when I got home. One of the issues that I have with it that when it rains the kayak fills up with water. Another con is that the transducer scupper is marriage with the pod and makes it very difficult for a FF installation.

Tracking is really great and even paddling is not a chore with the kayak. I also love the concept of the fly rod storage system as well.
Although that kayak as a couple of cons for me the pros outweigh the cons. I would definitively recommend the Jackson Big Rig FD to anyone.
