Description

The Big Tuna is one of our largest capacity kayaks with the ability to paddle either as a tandem or a solo fishing kayak. It has many different seating positions allowing for traditional tandem positions, ‘facetime’ positions and a good variety of solo positions making it a great platform for fishing of all kinds. Its JK stability, logical accessory positioning, rudder option, and speed make it a serious predator in all water types. Unique “Tuna Tank” can be used as a livewell or dry storage.

Been paddling this boat for 3 years now. It is my everyday paddler, people always ask me that for some reason. I love the boat. Bought it specifically for me and my 80lb chocolate lab. So I use it mainly in the solo position always. It extremely stable, to me, very stealthy on the water, and tracks very well. The rudder is a must addition though I will say. I have paddled the Bite Angler, Cruise 12 Angler, and pedaled the CruiseFD, i will still take the BigTuna any day over them, I just love it.
Only negatives I have to say is the lack of gear track, no front hatch access and no tie down points. But with minimal mods, you make it the way YOU want it to be, which is pretty sweet. Dry bags on the deck help too keep your items protected.
Its the the perfect boat if you have little ones to take them out and enjoy, or like myself, a large dog.

My wife and I decided on the Big Tuna for our outings together. She doesn't fish by enjoys the outdoors. So we are enjoying the kayak. The great thing about this is that since we have issues paddling in sequence, I have positioned the seats so that she is facing me while we are together. It makes talking about various subjects very easy.
When I get the chance to go fishing with my buddies the conversion from a tandem kayak to a solo kayak is very simple. I do find that the kayak is a little more stable when the Big Tuna is setup as a solo.
It paddles well and track well but I did include the rudder system to help with the drift while fishing.
The Jackson Team truly followed the K.I.S.S. method on the design of the Big Tune.
